SCENE 1
London, Outside The Randalls Theater,
Eadger: Do you believe in magic?
Charlie: I believe in miracles
Eadger: What's the difference between a miracle and magic?
Charlie: Magic is seen, and miracles are experienced. When a sick mother cooks for her kids and brings them joy, that joy is exaggerated on the mother's face, well that is a miracle. Magic is the food her children eat.
Eadger: Ah, I never realized, you were a prophet. What do you think? What Thomas performed that day was a miracle or a magic trick.
Charlie: For now, it was a magic trick for me.
Eadger: What has been done to us, Charles? Our careers are ruined after this. After my clients know, I have been working on a stupidity like this, are they even going to take me seriously? A detective who ruined his career for a stupid magic trick.
Charlie: That's true, but the magic trick isn't that stupid I believe.
Enter Thomas
Thomas: Gentlemen! here you are!
Eadger: Thomas! we were waiting for you
Thomas: Come on in, I had reserved the best seats for you, oh, and I will be calling you up on the stage to announce my new film as well! I hope you will be able to prepare a speech on the spot, of course, you will, you are writers, let's not waste any more time, and let's get it!
Charlie: (Whispers) What the hell? a speech!
SCENE 2
The Randalls Theater
The entire theater is filled with people and seats are filled completely. Eadger and Charlie are led to the front-row seats while Thomas goes backstage
Enter Thomas
Thomas: Good Evening, Ladies and Gentlemen! today is that auspicious day, when I performed my magic trick thirty years ago! (Audience Applauses), it was a great experience, not just for me, but for every person who has been sitting in this crowd. I thank God for everything that has been showered upon me as a blessing through you beautiful public.
A group of four workers arrives on the stage bringing the original Almira of Thomas Geedar
Thomas: Well, what do we have in here, the legendary Almira in which I had spent 30 seconds of my life. (Public laughs), but today, I am going to spend a few more 30 seconds in this Almira for the last time, and everything will change. (People chatter among themselves), for those who do not know, this is the same theater I presented my act 30 years ago. Over these 30 years, it has completely changed and become even much larger to occupy all of your beautiful faces. But yet, the magic is in the air, not just in this act!
Charlie: He should have started it already
Eadger: Let him take his time, this thing will blow up when Doctor Zushu Lin arrives with the blood sample test, and reveal his actual age in public
Charlie: Doctor Zushu? you chose the best, can't wait to see his face fall off to the ground after that happens, but first, let's see what he does.
The workers open up the Almira, and Thomas enters in
Thomas: See you all, on the other side! (winks)
The Almira is closed and all the eyes curiously look forward towards the Almira. Charlie and Eadger look too closely at the Almira and the timer starts. For thirty seconds the Almira starts to shake up, and the intensity of the shaking Almira increases.
Thirty seconds get over and the Almira stops shaking, when the door unlocks, and starts to open with a creaking sound. A foot of Thomas Geedar shows up outside the Almira for the first time and then his hand, which appears to be free from all the wrinkles of old age. And suddenly, the entire Thomas Geedar appears in front of the public who is now back to his original age, of thirty. The same Thirty-year-old Thomas Geedar comes out of the Almira and opens up his arms in an attempt to say that the trick has now ended.
The public begins to applaud madly for the performance they had just seen, while Eadger and Charlie remain in goosebumps.
Thomas: The Passage of Time! Thank you everyone for the love and care you displayed throughout these years! and from now on, I live a normal life, resuming it from the same age, I left it!
The applauses increase and increase while Eadger remains dumbstruck.
Thomas: But the act isn't over yet! I would like to introduce you to my very new friends and would request them to come on stage.
Charlie: Oh my God, Ed, now our turn.
Thomas: Please welcome, Detective Eadger, and his subordinate, Junior Detective Charlie Spencer!
Eadger and Charlie are dumbstruck after realizing that Thomas knew their reality all this time, while the public applauds.
Enter Charlie, and Eadger on Stage
Thomas: Detective Eadger, everyone, is the genius of our city! he has solved numerous criminal cases, and has made such a tremendous success at such a young age. And without a doubt, his subordinate, Charlie isn't less of a detective but tries to seek shadow in Eadger's expertise, Am I right Spencer?
Charlie: What is all this about Thomas?
Thomas: When Eadger and Charlie entered my house for the first time, they told me they were making a movie on me! (public laughs), But instead, they were there to examine the secret to my trick because the mayor's son told them to do so!
Eadger: (Whispers) Stop it Thomas, or you will have to pay the price.
Thomas: (Whispers) We will see who pays the price in just a few seconds, (Loudly) Very cleverly! The detective took a sample of my blood, and gave it for examination when I was 70 years old, well, Doctor Zushu Lin, was caught at the entrance of the theater with the reports, let's see, what he has to verify.
Enter Doctor Zushu Lin
Thomas: Welcome Doctor, I hope my staff didn't trouble you as much, but you are here for a very important purpose. A purpose so important, that dangerous criminals of the city can wait, drug dealers, mafia, kidnappers, killers, all of them can wait, because your forensic department was busy in knowing How old I was yesterday? Well then show them the report.
Dr. Zushu: (Whispers to Eadger) I am sorry Detective, but he actually was 70 years old.
These words fall on Eadger like a thunderbolt, as his intelligence is challenged.
Thomas: Well if you can't tell, let me announce to the public, that Doctor Zushu's report tells that I was 70 years old before performing today! And if Doctor Zushu prefers, he can examine me even now, I am back to 30 years of age or not!
The crowd boos at the Detectives on the stage when Eadger and Charlie get off of the stage and walk away in a rage
Thomas: Hope you had a great time!
