I spent my new year in the bunker all alone. I didn't know where the clone was, and the thought that those idiots up there would destroy him was disturbing me. After a few hours, a corporal came and was giving me a scarred eye. He passed a plate filled with a loaf of bread and some milk. It was my new year's feast, and I enjoyed it. But the thought that I was about to face my widowed mother and little sister was killing me deep inside. And then came Adam. "Happy new year slick! how's the feast for you?" he came with a smirk. "Please sir, I want to talk to general, I have really really urgent things to say!" I said, "Don't expect anything from me, you should have thought about consequences before committing that sin, and yes, slapping me is a sin!" he said, "I agree sir, I made a mistake, a big mistake, but this is no joke, I have something that can help us, it can make us double powerful," I said, "Double power leads to damage, I know, you don't want to face your old mother and sister with that loser face, we all want this war to end, and there is only one way this ends, either we die or they die! either home or no home!" said Adam in an unusual tone, which I was hearing for the first time. Obviously, he was the one most affected by this war.
In the earlier half of this war, Adam lost his younger brother who was indeed a corporal like me. Adam's family was in the army for years, his father died in a war, and his uncle got his one leg injured. Obviously, misery brings anger with fear. "Please, for a moment sir, I understand your problem, I am sorry, let me out," I was now literally begging when Adam finally paid heed. "Alright, asshole! first and final chance, I'll talk to the general," said Adam and went away. After a few minutes, a soldier came to fetch me, thanks to my stars, I was finally free to tell them about the clone machine. Coming out on the ground I saw the general talking with a rage. He was passing orders shouting when Adam came forth to me, "Corporal Mark! your turn!" he shouted, the general saw me, and came forth, his eyes were red when he said, "The bolts never felt so hard on us! the Chinese government negotiated with the Japanese and British and now they are in the war, they were in debt to Britain so, they made them join the war at cost of their men, we are weak, weaker than before, they can attack at any moment," said the general, and I held his arms tight as an old friend, consoling him I said, "I have a perfect plan sir, you can't miss this!" and this made a general calm.
"When I was sent here, the room in which I was spying had a machine that can clone any human, the assassin they sent for us was also a clone, and you had seen my own!" I said, "So what are you trying to say?" the general asked, "Why not we clone our men and use them in war!" my answer gave Adam and general a smile, "A clone army!" the general said, "we can agree on that, brilliant corporal, that's excellent!" "But we can have only limited clones," I warned them, "But first let's make a plan!" said the general.
The general, Adam and I were in a dark office and the soldiers were being sent to the clone room and were being cloned the same way I did to myself. And about my clone, he was still alive and was now helping them lead the cloning. "Obviously, the Britishers would keep an eye on the Chinese army so they would definitely join them in an attack, and Russians would be their possible attack," said Adam, "Why do you think so?" I asked, "Japanese were after our base, so obviously they would attack us," he replied, "So it's simple boys, Russians are in danger, they are not enough, we should send the clones for their help, and our 1600 men are enough for the Japanese army," said the general, "But I believe the British army has not yet made any bigger move, they were planning something big, but anyway, we would be sending clones in the first wave of war," so our big plan was ready when a soldier entered, "Sir! the clones are ready," and our 1000 clones were prepared, "Fill the clones and send them to the Russians and inform them about this," the general ordered and then continued with us, "The Japanese engaged with us will never know that we were using their own toys against them," smirked and moved out.
Standing on the ground I saw the trucks moving out of the war zone. They travel along with the beautiful snow-laid walls of hills making their way for the Russian army. But a thing is only beautiful when the admirer has time to look for it, but for us, there was no time at all.
