Chapter 6- Harrow's Treasure
Peter was not ready for the news. The words, struck him like a bold of lightening when he returned to Hogwarts. This was completely unexpected.
George's grandparents had cried the whole day and night when they heard the news. They were at the school, and Flamel along with all the teachers was out of words. Professor Flamel understood the feeling for he had lost his daughter years ago the same way. It was like a similar flash of memories returning to his mind, the same rage, the same disbelief, and the same grief.
Peter in his own web of thoughts was continuously fixated on George, and the memories he had with him. All the fights they fought in beginning against each other. All that hate was suddenly gone, it was like it never existed in their entire history. His eyes went straight towards George's weeping grandparents. What would they do now? Who would take care of them in their old age? George was the only descendant they had in their family. They were completely alone, and this was killing Peter from inside. Suddenly he understood how important George was to them.
The staff and students gathered in the Gread Hall later that evening, where they gave a tribute to George Smith and his soul. Mr. Gibbs and the Minister of Magic were also present there. The Minister announced a compensation of five thousand galleons of gold and political asylum for the rest of their lives. Peter was relieved a little, but little did he knew, that any amount of money could not bring back their grandson now.
In the evening, Peter's mother came to the school to accompany him to George's funeral. The Funeral was tomorrow.
It was a rainy evening, which clouds darker than they had ever been. The sky was crying. George's body was floated in the air and placed inside a golden and wooden coffin. His grandparents took a last look at their brave grandson before it was closed.
A final speech ceremony took place where everyone was supposed to talk about Smith. Professor Flamel was also present in the crowd. He stepped forward first to speak about George Smith.
"George Smith," Flamel started, "was not an ordinary student. He was a Gryffindor by heart. I had seen strength in my day, but what this boy carried was something more than that. A strength, no one had ever seen.
In his first year itself, George Smith was elected as the Seeker of Gryffindor, which has been achieved by very less wizards in Hogwart's history. In his second year, he proved what he could do if he were to go without holding himself back. A boy fighting for his love, his friends, and most importantly, for what he believes is right.
I would extend my deepest apologies to Mr. and Mrs. Smith. This should, never have happened..." Flamel broke out crying in the middle of it, beleiving it was because of him that Smith lost his life. Mr. and Mrs. Smith broke out crying too. Peter had been looking at their faces lifeless and trying to gather himself together all this while.
