A STREET IN NEW YORK
The moon had grown blue and was preparing to be covered in the blanket of clouds which might soon make it difficult for the guards of the city to keep an eye on the enemy. The shivering breeze was filling up the space, stray dogs and cats were all sleeping in their corners. The homeless still suffered from the helplessness of sleeping under parked carriages, because flakes of snow covered the ground. The snow looked pretty in the evening while the pretty market was usually, selling lights, and cakes in the month of December when all were awaiting Christmas.
A stream of blood was being marked on the middle of the road which was flowing and changing the white snow, dark red. I child's bloodstained head was being dragged on the road with his body being held in hands of a masked man. During the investigation of Kingwill, a five-year-old's body was still missing and this was it. The killer without feeling even a tiny bit of mercy and pain dragged the dead child on the road while all the guards were in the depth of the streets. Our killer could freely roam on the road when he arrived at the crossroad. The crossroad had a bridge above it on which another masked man could be seen standing. The man on the bridge throw a rope at him and then tied it to the bottom of a wooden arm holding the bridge.
The masked man, with the other end of the rope, tied the neck of the dead child and set it free to hang. On finishing their task the men threw a signal to each other and vanished from the place in the air.
As the morning arrived, a guard who peacefully slept last night came out of the streets, to just look at the horrifying scene. He could see a dead child hanging from the bridge who has been ruthlessly shot and was covered with blood all over, and blood leaking from his head, touching the ground. Looking at this nightmare, the guard screamed as loud as he could. In a few hours, the entire city gathered around the scene. Policemen arrived and untied the ropes from the child's neck. The child was wearing a bloodstained shirt and brown pants, all covered in blood. The city girls fled away to their houses with tears in their eyes looking at the horrific act of mankind. A policeman holding the child examined his clothes when he found a letter in his pocket. "I think...I think it's a message," said this policeman to his head.
HENRY SCOTT'S OFFICE
"Why is he late?" said Henry Scott in a raised voice to his manager, "I hope he must be on his way," said the intern looking eagerly out of the window, "Well, I hope he knows the value of my time!" said Henry in a raised voice. Soon the door opened and JJ Warren walked in, "I am sorry for being late sir, my alarm clock is faulty," said Warren. "Have seat young man!" said Henry who took a seat behind his desk with Warren sitting in front of him. "So, you are that famous detective," said Scott, "Indeed sir, I just use my talents to help," said Warren, "How is your progress on Victor Smith's murder?" asked Henry, "Well sir, we haven't got any significant pieces of evidence but all I know is that this case is somehow connected with the Kingwill case," said Warren. "Well, you better make it fast," said Scott, "after Victor Smith's painful demise, I am the one holding his position now, and this makes my life in a bigger danger, you understand?" said Scott in a loud voice, "Well, yes! your life is at risk but I guess everyone's life is at risk," said Warren. "I am city, Mr. Warren," said Scott with a smile, "Save me, or I would suspend you,", JJ Warren laughed and then said, "If you die, how will you suspend me? and if you live you won't, so, I will work at my own pace and don't worry, not just you but everyone will be safe, it was a pleasure meeting you sir," JJ Warren offered a handshake to Henry who ignored it moving his eyes off, "You may leave," said Scott. Warren smiled and left the room.
"So how did it go?" asked Spencer, "I didn't like him, but I have to save him somehow," said Warren. "Did you hear? they found a dead body hanging from a bridge this morning, they found a letter in too," said Spencer. Warren stopped walking and said, "Did you contact the police for that letter?" asked Warren, "Yes, it's in our office, people of the city already read it, and they say, it's not so good, but they are scared," said Spencer, "Fear! Spencer, I told you, they will use fear as a weapon, we must be prepared," said Warren continuing his walk.
JJ WARREN'S OFFICE
"Good morning sir! I have something which may help you," said the policeman welcoming JJ Warren and Spencer walking in the room. "Show me the letter," ordered Warren, and the policeman took out the letter giving it to Warren, "Where's the dead body?" asked Warren, "Oh, it's been given for analysis, Miss Marie has been working on it from the past hour," said Spencer.
"People of the town, Greetings, We are the Men Under Mask, the ones who were responsible for the destruction of Kingwill. And we have many other plans, like destroying the order of government and bringing a new order, and that's why we killed Victor Smith. We also know that you have sent a detective looking for us, well everything will fail because we are planned. We can destroy every single street in one go, and wreak havoc on everything in one day.
But we also like playing fair sometimes, so here is a chance for you, and till the time you follow these instructions, you may live. In moring 6 to 9, in evening 2 to 4 and at night 9 to 11 must be observed as the timings for the commotion in the city, and after that, if anyone seen on any road or at any corner, will be killed. People must plan their visits in these hours or die. From 9 to 11, there will be a special activity to do. People must offer any expensive object, food, or money in the middle of the city where this child was hanged. All these things will be gathered by our team after 11.
Any policeman or guard seen on the streets will also be eliminated. Make sure you all follow this new order." recited JJ Warren. "This is insane," said Spencer. "Let it happen for a while, let's see what they have to do," said Warren in an anxious tone. "But James, this is dangerous, we can't just let this go on!" said Spencer in a loud noise, "We would have to," said Warren and then he asked the policeman, "How is the security of Henry Scott?" "It is tight indeed Mr. Warren, six of our policemen are always around him," said the policeman.
A CORRIDOR IN HENRY'S OFFICE
After the entire day's duty, one of the policemen in charge of Henry Scott's safety went out to pee. Moving in the empty corridor, he could still feel someone else's presence. A ghost, but he didn't believe in ghosts. Walking towards the toilet, a hand covered his nose and mouth tight and the policeman tried to scream but couldn't make any noise. This was the masked man who fainted with this policeman using Nefopam, a drug that could make anyone nervous, scared, confused and make it difficult for him to urinate. The policeman made no noise further. The masked man dressed up as the policeman covered his face with a tape he had in his pocket all the time and set out for the office of Henry Scott. He dropped his mask near the policeman who tried to crawl on the floor in an attempt to catch him.
The man rapidly walked through the corridor and held his gun in his hands. The drugged policeman was able to crawl out of the toilet. The man slightly peeped into the room by opening the door and saw other fellow policemen standing. He held his gun tight to his hip and opened the door. Everyone's eyes went straight on this man, when one of the policemen asked, "What's up with your face?" and the man shot three bullets at Henry Scott leaving him dead.
The policemen raged and rushed after the man who in turn also ran through the corridor. All of them chased each other when a few policemen help the drugged one picking him up and taking him to a doctor. The man ran and ran everywhere in the office when a few shots were fired at him too. But eventually, he slipped on the floor and fell off the stairs to the ground.
Gathering all his leftover strength he tried to pick himself up when he saw a gun pointed at him. And then he looked around to see man guns pointed at him. The man raised his hands giving up the chase and surrendered himself to the police.
