CHAPTER FIVE: THE KNIGHT ARRIVES

A STREET IN NEW YORK

JJ Warren waited outside his office to look at the white ink to move. The masked men loaded their truck completely with the new stuff. Warren was looking at them a distance hidden behind a trash can. The masked men signaled the truck driver to shoot off and entered the truck themselves. One man took a final look around the city to ensure no one was out at this time. As the truck left, warren moved, he was wearing his black coat and pant with black shoes and a black hat to completely cover his face up. Moreover, all the way, he slightly bent himself and moved in the corners detecting the sign of white ink. The ink on some points couldn't leave a mark but Warren somehow detected the path himself leading to the next mark. He moved slowly and took long strides, and tried to go unnoticed by the masked guards patrolling the city with a gun.

These guards looked similar to that old man they caught, the part of their head exposed in the air was burnt, their hands looked burnt, they wore black and white suits and a white mask. Warren taking attentive strides made his way out of the town somehow and followed the white marks leading to the place these masked men belonged to.

A warehouse, it was a warehouse where the truck finally stopped and a masked man got out to direct the truck. One man was standing at the gate to let the truck enter this warehouse. The truck got in the warehouse when Warren was waiting for an opportunity to enter it. The men kept the gates opened and gathered in a corner to remove their masks and taste some tobacco. Warren using this opportunity made his way into the warehouse and hid behind a hillock of gifts. The masked men entered the warehouse and drove the truck out of it, finally locking the gate. Besides the big main gate, there was a small entrance gate too, which was locked.

When the truck finally left, Warren came out. There was no light in the entire warehouse and Warren saw no sign of life. "JAMES!" JJ Warren shouted his name which echoed all around.

MAYOR'S OFFICE

"Who is JJ Warren?" asked Gryffin Scout to the election officer standing in the room. "You don't know about the person because of whom we are all alive and safe today? JJ Warren is a detective and we hire him whenever things go in mysterious directions," said the officer. "Safe? after all this, new terror and killings, we are not safe sir," said Gryffin taking a seat on Mayor's chair. "According to your speech and slogans, you seemed to be an honest man, but all those who died had some ink in their tea," said the officer, "Well, then I assure you that I do not drink tea," said Gryffin smiling. The officer started laughing along with Gryffin and said, "You take the charge till the next elections and don't worry, we will give you the best security and JJ Warren's assurance for your safety, and after elections, if people like your work, the position is yours," "I don't care about my position, I care about my and everyone's safety, if I die, I hope you won't be the one to sit here, make sure my security is airtight," said Gryffin. "We will make it sure," said the officer and left the room.

Gryffin stood up and lit his cigarette and looked around the entire office. Dreams come true sometimes and maybe for a little while they do come true. Gryffin saw the portrait of his mom and dad and smiled hoping that they were alive to see him sitting in the office.

A scream blew up Gryffin's ears suddenly when his eyes grew bigger and he rushed towards the door to open it. The entire staff of the office rushed towards the main entrance along with Gryffin who on reaching the entrance saw the election officer in a pool of blood. A mask lied beside the officer's dead meat and stared in Gryffin's eyes bringing out the chills of horror in him. "Get a doctor, quick!" ordered Gryffin.

For a few hours late in midnight Gryffin sat alone shivering in his office as his death could approach him any moment. Knight did arrive in the city, but all the odds were determined to end the knight's reign. Poor Gryffin Scout.

THE WAREHOUSE

Warren had almost taken three rounds of the place and looked out of the window ten times. He made his mind to stay there till the next morning and then only plan to leave empty-handed with no clue. Warren lay on the floor to take a nap.

"So, did your ultimate plan go well JJ Warren?" an echo reverberated the entire warehouse which made Warren's eyes wide open. "Who was that?" shouted Warren standing up and now ready on his toes. "I am one of those masked men, and I am really, really impressed by your courage, you made it till here," shouted the man. "Where are you speaking from?" asked Warren, "I am highly honored to talk to you and actually delighted to play this game with you," said the echo ignoring Warren's question, "What do you want? why are you all doing this?" Warren shouted in a rage. " You know, all those riddles were prepared by me, and you were able to solve them, which means you have a game in you," said the echo following a peal of evil laughter, "Just answer my question!" shouted Warren.

"So, here is a new riddle, and if you are able to answer this you will have a beautiful reason to play this game with me, so here it goes-

'The less of me you have, the more I am worth,

Treat me with care, as I will you,

And both of us will share our time on earth'

Are you clever enough? to answer this riddle," said the echo.

"The less of me you have, the more I am worth, pain...maybe? no, time? maybe? The answer is Time!" shouted Warren, "Are you sure? Is that your final answer?" said the echo. "No! this is not my final answer, the less of me you have, the more I am worth, Treat me with care, as I will you, who gives me mutual care? my love, no, I don't have multiple lovers, but a lover shares time with you on earth, but no!" said Warren. Warren thought for a little while more when his eyes grew bright, "A friend! The answer is a Friend!" shouted Warren, "Ah! finally, we have JJ Warren in the room, well you are right, and I hope you can gather the further clue yourself," said the echo following laughter. "Friends, my friends! they could be in danger right now!" Warren's eyes grew bigger and his face went pale, "What did you do to them!" shouted Warren.

"Your only friends, Marie and Spencer, they are somewhere out there in our safe hands, and to save them you must be able to leave this place!" said the echo.

AN UNDERCONSTRUCTED BUILDING

The masked men dragged Marie and Spencer who were tied in ropes with their mouths filled with cloth. Taking them on a higher floor, the masked men punched their faces hard enough to make them bleed. Marie dropped a tear and her face was red and filled with fear when she looked at Spencer. Spencer's nose was bleeding and he looked at Marie with the same emotions.

"Beat them up, till they collapse," said one masked man, and his orders were followed. Two men brought canes and belts and for the next few moments showered them on JJ Warren's two poor friends.

The Key to Deception

Jordan Kingsley was a man with some bad habits but a good sense of business. His fortune had afforded him many advantages, including various artifacts and awards that adorned his large hall. However, the most prized possession he had acquired in his lifetime was a set of ten rare beads, each worth a million dollars. This fact wasn't a secret among his acquaintances, who included his elder brother, Benjamin Kingsley, his wife, Harriet Kingsley, and their son, Clinton Kingsley. Unfortunately, Clinton was autistic, though remarkably creative, and Jordan felt a special bond with him, sponsoring his education out of genuine love rather than pity. Jordan was selective about those he let into his heart, reserving his true affection for those who earned it. This often excluded his own brother, his brother's wife, and even his business partners. Harriet, aware of Jordan's distant relationship with her son, made efforts to keep Clinton away from Jordan, fearing that the uncle's ...

CHAPTER SIX: THE FLAMES

MAYOR'S OFFICE  Gryffin Scout smoked heavily looking out of the window at the moon. "What are my orders sir," said a cop in the room, "I want to meet JJ Warren, as quick as possible, things are getting insane, I can't take further risks, let's see what he has to offer me, contact him tomorrow morning," said Scout.  THE WAREHOUSE From the window at the roof of the warehouse, a can of fuel fell to the floor, after which a matchstick fell, raising flames in the entire space. Warren looked at the rising flames anxiously when he ran to a corner saving himself from the rising flames approaching him. "Why are you doing this?" Warren shouted in a rage, "I will kill you JJ Warren, I promise you, this will be your end, and I am honored to kill such a worthy opponent tonight!" said the echo. "Leave my friends alone, they are innocent, don't hurt them!" shouted Warren, "They will die before you, I assure you of that, and this w...
